Alliums

I am so in love with this time of year. When we moved here there were about three of these allium.Every year I let them go to seed so that I can save seeds for friends. And every year they are so abundant that I don't get all the seeds off and they spread all over. I can't bear to rip them out and so we have loads. Dare I say too many?

These ones are in the back of the house and you can see all their heads about to burst into bloom.

now why is it that i can't seem to get aliums to grow in my garden? do i plant them too deep? I bought 2 of those huge ones a couple years back and they bloomed the following year but never came back :o( My mum used to have heaps in her garden and I just loved them! Maybe I should just sprinkle some seeds? Yours are truly magnificent.

I have one allium (from you :-) but it hasn't spread yet. Maybe I have to learn to save the seeds so that I can help it spread to that back yard.

Nope, you can never have too many of these gorgeous giants. Will you share a picture of when they do bloom en masse? Pretty please...
