Hot Chicks!

We had six hot chicks in our backyard this week. What a surprise! My sons couldn't wait to get close. As it turned out they even had to rescue one who inadvertently stood on a red anthill and was quickly overwhelmed with biting insects. Here is the rescued darling...

Here are the others... (they are so tiny that our lawn looks like a jungle in comparison)...
They are so young that they just remained crouched low waiting for their parents to return (the adults were busy trying to scare off the neighbours cat while their brood hunkered down in the lawn).

J. stood on guard with his watergun from a safe distance away from the chicks to help dissuade the cat from attempting to grab any of these little guys. Happy to say all were reunited with their parents once the cat left our yard.
