Dear Readers,
This weekend, you will finally discover what all the hint-dropping has been about. Each of us will be offering something to you as a Thank You for reading our blog. All you have to do to win one of the four "prizes" is to leave a comment on each of the four contest posts.
I am not going to tell you exactly what is in the box I have filled, though this post of mine should give you a hint. Yes, those bamboo handwarmers are in there. And yarn. Here's another clue...
Something beaded
Something new
Something knitted
Something blue
To win this box of goodies, please leave a comment on this post. I want you to tell me what is your favourite thing to do in the fall. Leave your comment by noon our time (Pacific) on Friday September 21st. And tell your friends - if you have a blog, feel free to mention our contest and tell people to say who they heard it from - that way you'll get more chances to win!

Fall is my favorite season, there are so many wonderful things to do. My favorite would be spending the day in the kitchen, cooking and baking and putting away for the winter. Smelling the spices and being in the warm kitchen is my kind of heaven.
Here in Austin, TX, fall is more of a state of mind than an actual season! Probably my favorite activity is taking my son (now 3) to the one of the "pumpkin patch" festivals set up in the nearby farming country. Most of these are actually at Christmas tree farms! So far his favorite game has been the pumpkin hunt, in which you ride in a cart behind a tractor out to where they have hidden miniature pumpkins in a patch of the growing Christmas trees. This year I may have some explaining to do, as he's sure to question the pumpkin trees!
Ok I confess I faithfully read this blog but never comment but nothing like a good old contest to bring out a few comments in me. I always have them just never share. My favorite fall time activity is baking and cooking. I find with summer I prepare same meals week after week barely baking just essentials and then fall's cooler weather hits and the cookbooks come out as well as my creative side. I recently found a delicious recipe for Polynesian steak strips oh yummy!
My favourite fall activity is carefully lifting my geraniums and fuscias from my garden, wrapping their roots in newspaper, and keeping them in a warmer environment for preservation. Then spring is like Christmas when I open all of the carefully place packages to find the strongest and hardiest survivors for my new spring garden. I have fuscias that are at least seven or eight years old and I save money by not having to buy replacements annually.

I love fall...baking pumpkin bread and soups, playing outside in the leaves with the kids and taking long walks smelling the outside "fall" smells.
I also love winning contests in the fall (wink wink!)
The colors of the fall are my favorite. I love hiking through a nearby state park on a cool, crisp day! I'm also looking forward to a visit to the pumpkin patch with my 2 yr old :)
Hi Nicola: My favourite thing to do in the fall is to wait until the leaves have fallen and then go to Kaloya park and jump around in them like a little kid. There is nothing like a bunch of fallen leaves to bring out the child in me.
My favorite thing to do in the fall? Leave the window cracked open at night . . . add an extra blanket . . . pull up the covers and get extra cuddly sleeping with my kids. Happy autumn! Happy contests! Happy homeschooling!
My favorite things to do in the fall are to take long walks with my family, and to spend time in the yard with them. We love to rake up the autumn leaves and have leaf throwing contests, as well as jumping in the piles of leaves. I especially love to bake in the fall, pies and homemade breads top the list.

WHAT FUN to hold an Equinox contest, Nicola! Thanks for all your generosity here. I love your posts, your sense of humour and unique outlook on life is so refreshing and inspiring. Keep it up! I'll be looking for a Four Friends And A Blog book coming out in a year or two! THAT would be inspiring!
I love Fall so much I tried to have an Autumn baby! But achk! Conception is harder than it sounds and so her birthday is in early December. I love the sounds of Autumn, the crunch of the leaves, the chattering of cranky squirrels when we pick up acorns they had their eye on, the clouds of crows that descend on us and deafen us with their music, the honking of the geese heading south, the squeals of delight from my children as they discover pumpkins they didn't know had crawled under hedges and fences, the thump of the cones falling from atop the magestic pine and spruce trees... I love the smells of Autumn, too. Who can resist the roasting of pumpkins in the oven, the baking of gingerbread, the dusty, musty leaves gathering into piles around the yard, the stinkbugs warning us to leave them alone, the aroma of apples warm from the sun as we pluck them into our hungry mouths... even the heady aroma of compost being shoveled onto garden beds and alpaca manure being shoveled into new compost piles. I love the clear blue skies, the leafy colours, the squashes in all their glory, plump and hard and delicious. And most of all, the promise of crackling fires to warm our house, hot tea sipped in between the click of the needles creating something warm and fuzzy to wear in the colder months to come...
Thanks so much for commenting on my blog! I'd love to have a go at winning something from you super-talented ladies! It's hard to comment on my favourite thing to do in Fall when we are in the beginning of Spring here in Australia, but one of the things that I really love to do is watch the hot-air balloons rising over the city in the early morning. One day I'll be on one of them as well, hopefully!
Very simple, but I love to crunch the leaves as I walk.
I love the crisp fall evenings and clear night skies. Sitting out with a blanket and a hot chocolate, watching the stars and breathing the fresh crisp air....getting back to nature, as Zara says....love it!

Hmmm...my favourite thing about fall is Hallowe'en..I love pulling on those almost-forgotten cozy sweaters, heading out to the pumpkin patch and selecting some pumpkins, kids climbing on bales of hay, putting out my little scarecrow decorations, carving up pumpkins, roasting seeds and debating costume ideas with kids! So much fun!
My favorite thing about fall? Wow that is a hard one! Usually we go to the Great Forest Park Balloon Glow, but this year it was too windy and it was a bust. I love going to that. My daughter is so young that each year it becomes brand new to her all over again andf she gets very excited...since that one fell through this year I would love to say trick or treating but last year was a bust because Zoe broke her tiny little 18 month old leg so we still haven't really gone so I can't really say I enjoy it yet...hmmmm Apple Picking with my enitre family! Now that is something we do every year and is something that is always too much fun....rigth down to Zoe's first year when she was picking leaves instead of apples!
Whew! Now that is a loooooong answer!
Fall - or Autumn as we call it here, is my favourite time to take a stroll on the beach. It's warm enough to enjoy bare feet in the water, but not so hot you feel obliged to strip off into your swimming gear!
I found out about your blog from Lara at Thornberry.
I love your blog! Oh! the contest. My favorite thing to do in the fall- I suck at picking at 1 thing. I love going to soccer games, both daughters play. I love sitting in the chill on my back porch in a sweater or blanket, and smelling the air. I love going to the pumpkin farm to pick out goodies... don't make me pick ONE. :) xoxo
Fall is my favorite season, and my favorite thing to do then is take a walk in the woods, look at the beautiful changing leaves, hear them crunch beneath my feet.....
Thanks for visiting my blog and inviting me to enter your fab contest!
:)
Well, I always love to sew. But somehow when Fall hits, my knitting needles come out also. Nothing cozier than watching a movie, snuggled under a blanket and knitting, with my family around. :)
I also enjoy baking in the Fall. I hardly ever bake much in summer, but the oven seems to always be on when the weather gets cold out.
