Double flowering almond

I couldn't resist posting a picture of this tree, it is one of my favourites. ( Yes, I do say that about each tree in turn) ;-) It isn't quite as spectacular as it usually is, that snow fall and the cold temperatures that we had a little while back put a bit of a damper on it as it had just started to bloom. But still...it is lovely.

i've been noticing the flowering almonds more this year, starting with yours last week! they remind me of those times with our children when our hearts are truly bursting with joy. that's what i think these bushes are feeling.
and i think i'm going to buy one this year! i remember how much joy yours gave you last year and now again this year. yes, i think it's going to be my mother's day present this year. a tree absolutely bursting with joy!

Does it smell as lovely as those blooms look?

What a wonderful way of looking at it, Mary-Sue. It really does seem to burst with joy, maybe that is why I love it so much. I love your comparison to the way our hearts feel at times with our children. It really is a great Mother's day gift - we gave one to my mom one year (actually we gave her two because the first one didn't live) ;-)

It actually doesn't have much of a smell, Katherine. IF it did then it might have to be (one of - see I can't commmit) my all-time favourites, but since it doesn't I can dither endlessly about which plant I love best and so just love them all in turn. Pretty soon I will start raving about the lilacs. ;-) (as will you, I think)
