It's been a week since my surgery and things seem to be healing well. Instead of shuffling along, I can now walk upright, though only taking small steps! I have done a few dishes, prepared some dinner, hung a few clothes on the clothes line (though someone else carried the basket of wet laundry down the garden).
I peeled the Steri-strips (clear tape) off the incision and the stitches look fine, and I'm telling myself that itching is a good sign (or is it an old wives' tale that when a cut itches, it's healing)! It seems a little puffy in that area, and I can feel a ridge where the scar tissue is forming - weird.
I am still having to get horizontal on the sofa for some time each day to allow things to rest properly.
However today was a milestone, in that I actually left my own property. I walked slowly up to the end of my road, where we have generous neighbours who have offered us the use of their swimming pool. I didn't swim (just sat in the shade of an apricot tree and knitted) but the two younger boys did. I wanted to get some photos but both sets of camera batteries died this morning. This is what the oldest was doing though...
Nothing new there!
We had a thunderstorm at suppertime tonight, some very impressive flashes and crashes and a good downpour. I loved it after all the heat we've been having.

I hope that you're able to do all that you want, post-surgery, soon. My husband always tells me that business about the itching when I complain that spot where I just had stitches is itchy. I don't care if it's true or not - the itching drives me crazy! I hope that you find relief and comfort soon.
